Dear Member Associations:
2019 was an interesting year.
We said a sudden good bye to a dedicated community leader, a husband, father and a good friend in Greg Intoccia. He is missed.
We were once again impacted by not having an elected, county level leader supporting Olney, in reference to the communications tower that will be built at the intersection of 97 and the ICC. We furthered our relationships with the elected leaders of the incorporated towns of Laytonsville and Brookville as well as with the Olney Chamber of Commerce. John McCarthy, State’s Attorney for Montgomery County, spent time with the GOCA membership reiterating that Olney continues to be a safe community in which to live, raise a family, or age in place. We were educated on the impact the new county law on Accessory Dwelling Units may have on our community and what actions could be taken.
And we were reminded again on how fortunate we are to be so well represented in Annapolis by our district 14 and 19 teams.
GOCA’s mission is to serve as the voice of the community. Without GOCA, the positive voice on matters that directly affect our community would be silent. GOCA is a “known quantity” amongst our local officials and we will continue to work to maintain that standing.
As we enter the New Year, it is now time to renew your membership. We ask that you complete the Membership Renewal form and return with payment by February 1st, 2020. Mail the form and check to GOCA at PO Box 212, Olney, MD 20830. The form can also be emailed to the GOCA Treasurer using the email address: gocatreasurerolney@gmail.com
In order to continue GOCA’s efforts for the overall welfare of the Olney community, the renewal of your membership and continued participation are essential.
I look forward to continuing to support Olney in the coming year.
Sincerely,
Matt
